All-Seeing Eye

You get some pretty kooky results if you prompt Stable Diffusion with this:

Gold Turret

Here's another turret to ward off raiders and wild beasts! In this case, I think the base turned out better than the weapon. I was going for a "Man with the Golden Gun" theme, but I'm not sure it works. 

Radscorpion

Of all the enemies in Fallout, I think the radscorpion is the one I fear most. These things are fast, creepy, and deadly, and I do my best to pick them off from long range whenever possible. 

I just primed this guy in black and then drybrushed on some medium blue for highlights. 
 

Red Rocket Garage

A few days ago I finally assembled my Fallout: Wasteland Warfare Red Rocket garage. Most the set is made of cardboard, but the rocket on the roof and the two red cooling pumps seen behind the coolant cost sign on the left are resin, and I painted them. I also painted the other resin bits you see here: a Dogmeat on the road, the Protectron, the leaking barrels, the turrets, the Nuka-Cola machine, and so on. 

It's quite an immersive set, and with this I now have all enough pieces to actually play a game of Fallout: Wasteland Warfare. Once I'm comfortable enough to have people over, of course . . . 
 

Giant Green Spider

Here's another giant spider, this time chowing down on a pile of bones and innards. 
 

Spider Chows Down

Here's another giant spider! I put this one on a base I painted some time ago and added a severed arm, a pile of intestines, and a hooded lantern. A grim tableau for adventurers to stumble upon! 

Gold Sedan

Some cars are painted in metallic colours, so I tried it on the 28mm variety. I guess it'll do the job on the table, but I messed up the window glare this time.

Pristine Protectron

In terms of putting the paint where it's supposed to go, this might be my cleanest Fallout robot yet. He's even a bit scuffed up, which is all to the good in the post-apocalyptic era it inhabits. 

Still, it's almost too pristine for the setting. Maybe I should add some weathering effects. 

The Terminal, Man

Here`s a 28mm-scale terminal for Fallout: Wasteland Warfare. In the Fallout computer games, such terminals can be hacked to unlock access to locked doors or safes, or they might give you control over automated gun turrets that might otherwise blast you. You can even play mini-games on some of them, or discover logs and emails that tell the story of the world before and after the final terrible war of 2077. 

In Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, the terminals help make the playing field more immersive, and they play roles in certain gaming scenarios. 

In the real world, these pieces are tiny, and therefore challenging to paint. However, aside from the display screen, I think this one looks appropriately worn. 

A Leaky Barrel of Fun

I`ve painted quite a few barrels by this point, and I`m very pleased to say that I seem to be making some progress. Check out the sharpness of those warning labels! 

I think most of the colours look pretty natural, and I`m particularly pleased by the look and texture of the leaking radioactive fluid. And finally I have some Nuka-Cola bottles I`m not ashamed of, at least in terms of putting the paint in the right places. I`m still having troubles finding the right cola-coloured paint, but this comes the closest yet. 

 

The Itsy Bitsy Spider

I painted the base for this spider quite some time ago, using a technical paint that simulates a kind of crust. The spider itself was painted much more recently, and it turned out pretty well even though all I did was apply a couple of coats of contrast paint and drybrushed a bit of red on the eyes and a couple of the legs. Fearsome. 
 

Phaser-Wielding Ferdinand

Meet Lieutenant Ferdinand Ortega of the USS Encounter. He's the first Starfleet figure I've painted that looks at least half-decent on the table, if not in a close-up photo. I finally found a good colour to use as a highlight against black, which gives his uniform a little more definition. I also tried to highlight the yellow portions of his uniform, but those don't really show up in this photo. The effect is pretty subtle anyway. 
 

Automated Turrets

Have you managed to scrape together the beginnings of a small farm or hut that will allow you to eke out an existence in the post-nuclear wasteland? If so, you need some automated turrets to deter raiders and wildlife. 

I used thin coats of different metallic paints on these gun emplacements, and drybrushed the bases.

Here's another hero or villain all dressed up in a suit of vintage pre-war power armour. 

Why is it that so many of my painted miniatures tend to look better from the back than the front? 

Bloated Ghoul

This may be my best ghoul yet. I painted him in shades of green, drybrushed the boils in shades of yellow, then added bile for good measure. 

Dogmeats

Dogmeat is the shared name of some loyal hounds appearing as companions in a number of the Fallout computer games. There are also several miniatures of Dogmeat for Fallout: Wasteland Warfare. Above we have the basic version. 

Next, we have one wearing shades. 

And finally, one Dogmeat variant has the luxury of some basic armour plating. 

A Better Class of Ghouls

Jeff's excellent advice on painting ghouls is welcome, but the techniques he described are a hair too advanced for me at this point. So I cheated a bit, adding generous quantities of True Blood paint from Green Stuff World. Combined with ink washes, the blood helped me mask some of my mistakes. I'm quite pleased with the face on the top ghoul--pretty terrifying.
