Carpenter Makes a Shelf
I have now obtained all of John Carpenter's films. (Not pictured: Dark Star and Elvis, which are on the shelf above.) They're displayed here with action figures of Keith David as Frank Armitage (They Live), Adrienne Barbeau as Stevie Wayne (The Fog), Christine the Plymouth Fury (Christine), and three alien invaders (They Live).

Alberta Liberal Caucus Swag
Back in 2006, when I worked for the Official Opposition--made of Alberta Liberal MLAs at the time--I was part of the communications team responsible for handing out swag at Official Opposition events, such as town halls. While doing a bit of organizing in my library today, I found two swag items: Alberta Liberal Caucus mints in tins shaped like an old flip phone and a two-button mouse. I threw the mints away--they surely must have expired long ago--but I'll use these to store itty-bitty action figure accessories.
Given that the Alberta Liberals haven't elected any MLAs for over a decade, I suppose you could consider these collectors' items.

Cameraception
I used my phone to shoot through the viewfinder of Mom and Dad's TECO box camera.
The Internet tells me these cameras were made between 1945 and 1948. If I could find film for it, I'm sure this TECO could still capture images.

Batman's New Bat-Hat
From time to time, comics have revealed that teams like the Justice League occasionally get together for a group photo. Maybe once a year, or whenever the membership changes. Having managed a few photo shoots in my time, I know how chaotic they can be. Imagine how much more chaotic when the subjects of the photo have personalities ranging from cheery do-gooderism to various forms of mental illness plus an array of disconcerting super-powers.
Here, Zatanna indulges in some mild tomfoolery by chanting, "taH! evoM ot s'namtaB daeh!" And suddenly Batman's wearing her top hat, much to his annoyance and the chuckles of his super friends.
I don't think they've ever shown who takes the JL photos, though. Maybe Jimmy Olsen?

Maximus, Helmet in Hand
Maximus, helmet in hand
Crossed the nuke-blasted desert
Wrapped in a cloak of steel
Not his own;
Maximus, hammer in hand
Fleeing his conscience
Chasing glory
Every ghoul and mutant and raider
Just another nail in his coffin

Beyond Mortal Kenner, Part One: Star Wars
Ever since Sylvia and I moved to our current residence, I've been decluttering and sorting all my stuff into compact storage. During that decluttering, I threw away the many old toys that had been damaged over the years.
This is what remains of the Kenner Star Wars figures I had in Leaf Rapids. I'm missing Princess Leia, R2-D2 (a real bummer, since that was the very first figure Mom and Dad bought for me at the Town Centre; plus, R2 remains my favourite character), the Death Squad Commander, Death Star Droid, all the droids from the Droid Factory (and the Droid Factory itself), my X-Wing Fighter, and my TIE Fighter. But I don't mourn their loss; all those toys were well-loved and played with often through my childhood, times shared with good friends weaving nonsense adventures in back yards and sand pits.
At some point, I'll donate the least worn of these figures and discard what remains. But not quite yet.

Golden Age Friend Group
Today I installed a whimsical hanging shelf in my office crafted to represent a fire escape. Then I placed some action figures on it. These guys are members and friends of the Justice Society of America, the first super-hero team, its creation dating back to 1940.

Newton Place Knicknacks
I didn't live in Newton Place for long, but it's where I watched the last season or so of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. I remember hardly anything about the layout of the apartment, and I have very few photos of my time there. This is one of them.

Podophobia Portrait
I had originally thought to post my Astroguard platoon today, but they need some touching up. In lieu, here is a photo I shot to annoy Sylvia, who hates horror movies and feet.
