Don't Miss an Astonishing Star Trek Adventure Wednesday Night!

My friend Meric Moir has been running tabletop and virtual roleplaying adventures for years now, and I'm very excited to be part of his crew this Wednesday, July 14, partaking for the first time in the Star Trek Adventures system by Modiphius. The two-hour single-shot adventure will be broadcast live at  twitch.tv/MassiveDamageAdventures starting at 8 PM MT.

What's a twitch stream? It's like watching a television show focused on a handful of real people playing a game. Sometimes they're playing a board game, sometimes they're playing a video game, and in this case, we're playing a roleplaying game. I'm playing the role of fresh-faced young Ensign Barnaby Meme Throughput, the flight officer (pilot) of the USS Artemis. Who knows what new worlds the Artemis will encounter? Find out Wednesday night, and as added incentive, you could WIN your share of $500 in gaming giveaways.

Massive Damage Adventures: 3:10 to Salvation

Muckraker Peter Kent.

My friend and colleague Meric Moir has another podcast up; this time, he shepherds a band of adventurers through a bone-chilling train ride to Hell in "3:10 to Salvation," an adventure for the latest revision of the Deadlands roleplaying game. I play a supporting role as muckraker Peter Kent. Spoiler alert: I spend most of my time in the adventure taking photos of the action, but I do have a moment of derring-do later on.

Dale Lynch and the Fate of Cthulhu

Tonight I participated in a one-off Fate of Cthulhu adventure with some work friends. It was the first time I've used the Fate roleplaying system, which emphasizes storytelling over tactical combat. Fun stuff. See if you can spot all the influences I used to build my character.

Earl Woods on Mars

If you've ever wanted to hear me talk about Edgar Rice Burroughs, his creation John Carter of Mars, and roleplaying game systems, you can do so right now by listening to the latest episode of the Massive Damage Adventures podcast. Click on this link for a list of listening choices (Apple, Spotify, or Google Play) and then choose "Bonus Episode 1: John Carter of Mars."

My friend and Stantec colleague Meric Moir invited me to play a round of the John Carter of Mars roleplaying game and then interviewed me for my thoughts on the game and, more specifically, how well it captures the feel of Burroughs' original Mars books. The podcast is almost three hours long, but the interview starts at the beginning if you don't want to listen to the whole play session.
