Today a lovely special edition of Tobe Hooper's adaptation of Stephen King's Salem's Lot appeared on my doorstep. It comes with a two-sided poster, a "Welcome to Salem's Lot" sticker, and a handsome perfect-bound booklet that collects essays about the miniseries.
Alas, sometime during the editing process, someone--more likely, multiple people--missed adding the name of Bonnie Bedelia's character to the cast list. For the record, Bedelia played the ill-fated Susan Norton.

Space: 1998
A gentleman named Keith Bradbury has used footage from Into Infinity, a Gerry Anderson tv-movie made between the first and second seasons of Space: 1999, to create a fan precursor to that series called Space: 1998. Bradbury uses clever editing, sound effects, music, and voiceover narration to place the unrelated Into Infinity into the universe of Space: 1999. Very well done; I'll have to see if I can find the original. Also nice to see a young Brian Blessed in action, as well as "Alan Carter" and "Victor Bergman" before the moon was blown out of Earth's orbit...

The Impostrophes
On Friday, I coined a new term: the impostrophe, which I define as any misused apostrophe, such as the infamous "it's" for "its."

The Power of Editing
Here's a well-crafted video essay explaining how Star Wars' editors transformed a deeply flawed original cut into the blockbuster we remember. The section on the revised finale is particularly fascinating.

Another Lost Video Project
Another two hours lost trying to create a video for the blog. I've tried to have fun editing video for years, but only rarely does the software - and I've tried many, many kinds of software - cooperate. Usually, my computer crashes and loses all of my work, as it's done yet again tonight. Tons and tons of raw footage and nothing to show for it because of this persistent curse.
Blogging while angry again. Never a good idea. Does anyone know of PC video editing software that can handle multiple file formats and WON'T CRASH? I bought a high-end computer precisely so I could do this stuff. ARRGGHHHHH.
