The Alps Over a Century Past

 

Here's a very sharp, clear glimpse of the Alps as they were in 1917. Trains, horses with sleighs, iced-over streams melting, dapper ladies and gentlemen seemingly overdressed for the weather by modern standards--it's all pretty fascinating.

Here's my great-grandmother, Alice Etsell, flanked by two Kellingtons, George and Tom. I imagine this was shot somewhere in southern Manitoba. Note the old car in the background. A Model T or Model A, perhaps?

Here's another photo of Granddad from 1918. I'm not sure what contraption he's operating, but  it's a farming tool of  some kind.
