Undercover Avenue

Something strange happened on the way home from work this afternoon: along my straightforward drive from Stantec Tower to Terra Losa, I drove past five unmarked police cars with their lights running in the act of pulling over other drivers. Even stranger, they were about evenly spaced at one-fifth intervals along my commute, the first just past Stantec Tower and the last just before my final turn into our condo complex. The vehicles pulled over were two mid-size cars, two pickup trucks, and a box truck.

Were they speeding? Was EPS conducting some kind of spot check along my route? Questions, questions...

Criminal Drive-Through Humour

Yesterday Sylvia wanted tacos, so I stopped at Taco Time on the way home after work. The restaurant was surrounded by police cars with lights flashing, and I made note of it at the pickup window:

"I see you have a lot of police here," I said.

"Yes," the teller said, "I don't know what's going on!"

"I hope it wasn't a..." And here I made the universal finger guns gesture, "...Taco Crime."

She laughed.

The Infinite Allan

Here's one of my earliest attempts at photo-manipulation. I snapped this photo of my friend Allan back when he worked at Edmonton Police Services and chose recursion as my theme - simple enough, since he'd posed in front of his monitor. I only took it three levels down, and even that modest attempt doesn't quite work at the smaller/deeper stages. Still, not bad for an early attempt.
