Give Yourself a Present

A few years ago, Sean gave me this Twin Peaks print for Christmas or my birthday; I don't remember which. It was created by an Albertan artist, and it captures an iconic moment from Twin Peaks, one of my very favourite works of art. Last month, I finally took it in to have it framed. I picked it up yesterday and hung it on my wall today, and I think it looks gorgeous.

Soda Can Turrets

I painted a pair of 3D-printed turrets made to incorporate soda cans. Cute! I'll use them for Star Schlock objectives.

Gatorclaw

Here's something I painted a while ago but never shared: a fearsome gatorclaw for Fallout: Wasteland Warfare.
Someone didn't read the sign.

Skull Cave

Jeff printed this creepy cavern entrance for me, and I painted it. Dare you enter the maw of Skullos the Dreaded to explore the horrors within his labyrinth?

Crimson Raider

I wound up with a second Star Schlock Star Raider model, so for the sake of telling the two miniatures apart, I gave this one hues of crimson.

Hail Ming!

I have painted Ming the Merciless. How regal he is! How fiendish his desires, how diabolical his plans!

Aunt Jean's Chaplin

Our Aunt Jean--second-youngest of the four Etsell sisters--is a painter, and she's generously shared her paintings with family. This portrait of Chaplin has lived in Mom and Dad's house for several years, and now it'll live in our theatre room for a while. I hung the painting a few days ago, and just now I added a couple of shelves to host my collection of Chaplin films (along with a few others from the golden age of comedy).

Thanks so much, Aunt Jean.

Doomsday

This is Doomsday, the guy that killed Superman back in 1992. Superman got better about a year later.

I'm not a fan of the character--if you can call it a character. It's really more of a plot device. Doomsday is a pretty mindless brute, remarkable only for his strength and durability. He's the Incredible Hulk without the tragic backstory or alter ego, but with bone spikes.

I'm happy with my paint job, and I had fun with the base. Good thing I held on to that extra 28mm scale cape!

A Burden Shared

A burden shared
Between two squires
Who slid on ice
And braved the fires
They lost their king
To ruin and wrack
But no misfortune
Held them back
What's in the chest?
They knew not what
Hopefully a lot of gold or jewels or something cool

Unfortunate Bug

Jeff 3D-printed a dragon skull for me a few days ago. While I was priming the model, this insect flew into the acrylic spray and, well . . . suffocated. Macabre.
