OUTRAGEOS
"OUTRAGEOS," I responded in jest to an email from a colleague. I noticed the typo before replying, but left the mistake intact because it amused me. I'm not expecting OUTRAGEOS to catch on and become the next "pwned" or "rekt," but it's mine...the perfect expression of mock over-the-top fury.

We Laughed for 45 Minutes
Sylvia and I watched this clip in bed a couple of weeks ago and laughed and laughed for nearly an hour, tears spilling down our cheeks. Perhaps we're insane.

Crazy Young Earl Set Up Us the Bomb
While scanning and retouching some of Mom and Dad's old photos, I came across what should have been a perfectly innocent Christmas shot. Unfortunately in this image I seem to be sporting the crazed visage of a budding young madman - there's something Joker-esque about the grin and the empty eyes.
Naturally I quickly took myself out of context in the hopes of creating an Internet meme.
Here's a sample LOLEARL. Maybe someone will put Crazy Young Earl on the front of an old poster for The Omen or The Shining. To think Mom and Dad could have put me up for audition in one of those creepy old 70s horror films...

Stompin' Sean
Reading memes is fun, but creating your own memes is even better. Here's an easy-to-use cutout of my brother Sean, ready for insertion into whatever funny situation you can imagine. I can think of a whole bunch of Godzilla-themed city-stompin' rampages already!
Here's an example of the fun you can have with the Stompin' Sean meme template.

Sean celebrated another birthday yesterday, so in his honour I crafted a series of lolseans. They're like lolcats, but...with Sean.

LOEARLCAT
The Internet thrives on photos of cats, and yet I don't believe I've yet posted a single feline. Here's Alex, Sean's first cat, circa 1991. Shortly after acquiring kitten-aged Alex from the family of a high school classmate, my friend Jeff Pitts came over and introduced himself.
"Hello, kitty!" he said, leaning over to pet the harmless-seeming animal. Temperamental Alex responded by carving three deep slashes into Jeff's cheek, who yowled in a manner familiar to anyone who's known luckless Jeff for more than six months. Mom ran for the hydrogen peroxide and Jeff was none the worse for wear. When Steve Fitzpatrick visited a little later, Alex hid out of sight for a time. Steve and I talked in the living room, Steve on one couch, me on another, when suddenly Alex leaped across the room and pinned Steve's arm to the wall for an instant or two before scampering off again.
Alex calmed down as he aged, but not without leaving a few scratches in other people, myself included. He also enjoyed exploring the nooks and crannies of the basement ceiling, and often Sean and I would hear him walking around up there. Once he got into a fluorescent light fixture, and the panel wasn't strong enough to bear his weight; it shattered, raining shards of translucent plastic down onto Sean, who was working at the computer. Alex himself landed (appropriately cat-like) heavily upon Sean's startled shoulders before zipping off to safety.
Despite (or because of) my allergies and acknowledged general disdain for pets, Alex seemed somewhat sadistically fond of me and we often played hockey with plastic bottle caps. He also enjoyed rubbing cat fur all over me, which caused no end of sneezing, skin irritation and watery eyes. Aggravating cat.

Meme Master
My old friend Allan is enjoying some Internet fame at the moment thanks to a simple but clever observation about the exponentially increasing graphic complexity of computer games. I'm not surprised that Allan's found a wide audience (nearly 500,000 views as of this writing!), because I remember the very passionate conversations we had on the topic back when we were living in the Bleak House of Blahs.
At the time my favourite game was Civilization - the first one, seen above. I played it in my basement room on an Atari ST with relatively primitive graphics. Around the same time I remember visiting Tony to play Wasteland on his IBM-compatible, while Allan used his Amiga to experiment with the then-cutting edge Video Toaster. We often wondered how long it would be before computer games were completely photo-realistic. We're not there yet, but I'm sure that in another twenty years Allan will need to post an updated graphic, one that places the Skyrim image on top and something with fidelity we can't even imagine on the bottom. I can't wait to play that game!
