"Dum-Dum" because I painted him to look like a bullet, "Recycling Bin" because the world needs mobile recycling bins that come to your house and get your plastic bags and cardboard boxes. And also chastise you for leaving the tap water running while you brush your teeth.

Ancient Sentrybot
Here's a sentry bot that's been hanging round for hundreds of years, wandering without purpose. As a result, it's covered in rust and mud and fuel stains. I tried to make the left machine gun barrel look like it was glowing from just having been fired, but alas, the effect isn't terribly convincing. Next time...

Pulp Robots
Tonight I painted a set of three pulp-style robots. These robots are trained to smash your camera! And other things.

Droid Passion
I finally managed to get Stable Diffusion to produce an image with characters interacting in some fashion. The prompt that did it? "C3PO and R2D2 share a kiss." Success?

Dawn of the Planet of the Robots
This afternoon, my friend Jeff texted this foreboding story to some of his friends, including my brother and me.
Jeff: "If the kid stopped picking his nose and touching the chess pieces, this would not have happened."
Earl: "'Righteous Robot Puts Brat in His Place' would have been a good headline'"
Sean: "I hope the robot was saying 'Checkmate' over and over as he crushed the finger"
Earl: "LOL"
Earl: "CHECKMATE--PUNY HUMAN"
Sean: "I TOOK YOUR KING AND NOW TAKE YOUR FINGER"
I lost it, as the saying goes, at that point.

I, Eyebot
Why am I better at painting monsters and robots and unliving furniture than people? It disturbs me. On the other hand, I like the metallic feel of this Fallout eyebot. The wood grain on the debris of the base looks pretty authentic, too.

Robby's Return
Robby the Robot used to get around. Since his first appearance in Forbidden Planet, still one of the best SF films ever made, he's turned up in his own starring vehicle (the flawed, weird, but somehow arresting The Invisible Boy), and he's guest-starred on Lost in Space, The Thin Man, The Addams Family and Mork and Mindy, among other television series. It's been some time since Robby was a pop culture icon, and as a fan I'd love to see him turn up again. Dr. Who seems an ideal vehicle for a return, considering the Doctor visits all of time and space; perhaps he could encounter the intrepid crew of United Planets cruiser C57-D after the destruction of Altair IV. On the other hand, the creators of the upcoming Star Trek: Discovery show will feature robots; why not Robby?
Or maybe he could show up in the background of an episode of Westworld...it would seem a fitting tribute.
