If you happen to be in Metropolis, and somebody next to you says, "Look! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's Superman!", then you know that Clark Kent isn't the only citizen there who needs glasses. I mean, come on! Three guesses to tell a flying guy in his day-glo pajamas from a sparrow or a 747? Time to visit the optometrist, I say.

I read a quote from J.J. Abrams today advising purists to 'stay home.' I don't know if you consider yourself a purist, Mr. Woods, but I know a number of people who think you are...

I'm not sure how to define a purist in this context, but there's good stuff in this movie for long-time fans and complete newcomers. My very earliest memories involve watching Star Trek, I grew up with it, and my secular humanist philosophical outlook was heavily influenced by it...I think it's fair to say I loved the original show, if you can love popular culture at all.

I'm glad I didn't stay home.
