These Are My Salad Days

Today, from scratch, I prepared a spinach salad, complete with spinach, eggs, shredded marble cheese, peanuts, sunflower seeds, and oil and vinegar dressing. It was very tasty.

Like leaves they fall
For they are leaves
Into the bowl
Pelted with legumes
Battered with eggs (but not in the cooking sense)
Drenched in slimy oil, dark balsamic vinegar, tossed
Mercilessly tossed
Then consumed

Perhaps one day, eons hence
To reform
To become spinach again
And close the circle
