Protectron

Here's a barely-functional, rusted-out Protectron. I fear I've added too much rust again, at least on the head.

Improved Soda Machine

I think the new "window" helps. What say you?

Soda Machine

I painted a soda machine in such a way as to make it look ancient and abandoned--or at least that was my goal. I think the weathering is fine, but I'll probably do the "window" over, painting it black with some silver streaks to indicate a very dirty window with some reflections glinting off it.

Rusty Raider

This gal from Fallout's Raider faction has acquired a set of well-worn, rusted-out power armor, sans helmet. In retrospect, I think I laid the rust on too thick; hardly any of the suit's original iron/gold sheen remains. Next time I'll know better.

Iron Man Scanned

It's Tony Stark
Playboy unmasked
With avenging he's been tasked
But yonder villain lurks below
Targeting his steel-clad foe
A trigger finger now unclasped
Can Tony Stark avoid this fate
And keep his debutante date?
Trust in Tony's brain and sinew
But you must still wait for next month's issue

A White Suit, a Red Fez, and a Gun

This might be one of my better faces; there's some shading, and his expression is discernible.

The Blonde Goatee

I call this guy "The Blonde Goatee" only because this is my best result yet at painting facial hair.

Man of Brass

Doc Ravage, Man of Brass! See him flex his mighty thews! Look how well that belt buckle turned out! Check out those well-defined abs! Behold the colour coordination of his costume!

Rope Brute

He's not perfectly painted, but I do like how the rope turned out.

No, I Expect You to Lie (Down on This Comfy Table)

This was a fun little set to paint. Imagine you're a secret agent that's stumbled upon this puzzling contraption as you're infiltrating the underground lair of an evil syndicate planning to take over the world . . .

. . . and then you discover, to your peril, that the contraption was mean to dispose of meddlers like you!

The one thing this set is missing is and actual projector for the laser beam meant to chop secret agents in half. I think the idea is that the strip at centre rear is a collimator band for the laser, but I like the old-fashioned ray gun/tv camera-looking thingee from Goldfinger. Maybe I can kitbash something and attach it.

I do love that the model creators included two tables, one with an agent, one without. They also included three secret agent heads to choose from! Now I have two extra heads, already painted and ready for when I have two extra bodies lying around.

Weathered Coop

Here's an old rooftop bird coop that I suppose could also be used as a small shed or maybe a sports dugout.

In Search of the Black Bird

He at least resembles someone who might desire a black bird, does he not?

The Jungle Awaits

Is it Stanley or Livingston? I have no idea, but only now do I see that this explorer is wearing glasses, and of course I've failed to paint them. Perhaps his frames are Caucasian flesh-coloured. Yes, that's the ticket.

Sword Cane

When people ask me how I get around town
I get around town in a brown suit, it's brown

Blue Lenin

It wasn't until I snapped this photo and zoomed in that I realized this snow-encrusted fellow looks like Vladimir Lenin. I should have painted his greatcoat red.

Doomsday Garage Repaint

Given the understandable reaction to the interior of the Doomsday Garage, I repainted the floor from garish red to hopefully more neutral and pleasing white. Sean suggested I try a white ink wash, but the closest thing I had to a white ink wash was a white contrast paint, and that seemed to make no difference at all. So instead I dry brushed white acrylic over the red floor and stairs. That seems to have worked reasonably well - or at the very least, it's better than a blood-red floor.

The Doomsday Garage

Last night, I finished painting this post-apocalyptic gas station, which will serve as terrain for Villains & Vigilantes, Twilight: 2000, Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, and other games.

Having finished the job, I'm not sure red and blue was the best colour scheme. But it looks decent enough on the table, and that's what counts; it's playable.

Naturally there's no gas to be had here, but the building still makes a decent, if spartan, shelter.

I may repaint the floor; the red is just too overpowering.

Chimp Fez

In the movies, if a chimp is wearing a fez, it's usually red. So I defiantly painted this chimp's fez green. Take that, chimp chump!

Fighting Man

Somehow using contrast paints gave this guy's uniform a camouflage-like appearance.

Man with a Straight Razor

Here's a short person wielding a straight razor. Dangerous! Is he friend or foe? I don't know, but for once I'm reasonably happy with the paint job.

Populated Dugout

Here's yesterday's dugout filled with the characters and soccer ball that came with it. The manager is in a blue suit, while the team's support staff are dressed in yellow and green to match the dugout/team colours. Unfortunately the dark skin tones are so dark that you lose any detail in the face; I need to figure out a better colour pick for darker-skinned folks.

Dugout

I painted this dugout in University of Alberta colours. My first attempt was pretty bad, just a mess, with many visible brush strokes, uneven colours, etc. But I persevered and added several more coats, all thin, and then dry-brushed different shades of yellow and green overtop of the original contrast paint layers. I think I managed to give this a more realistic feel than when I started.

This dugout came with four minis, which I have yet to paint.

Desert Walls

Sean generously donated some primed but unpainted Warhammer terrain he decided he couldn't use. The sculpt put me in mind of desert architecture you might find on Tatooine, Arrakis, or various future versions of Earth. I still have more pieces to paint, but I ran out of the paint that forms one of the main colours of this scheme.
